Australian surfer, Owen Wright, took first place in the SriLankan Airlines Pro in the Maldives yesterday!
According to many of the judges and contest officials this was one of the most exciting and high scoring finals they’d seen in years.
Owen Wright went head-to-head with Pat Gudauskas as the two battled it out for first place. Wright emerged the victor as the final scores gave Wright 19.23 and Gudauskas 18.93 out of a possible 20.

The surfing action was hotter than ever at North Stradbroke Island on Thursday, with Day 3 of the ASP Grade-5 Oakley Pro Junior being run in 2-3 foot waves at Main Beach.
After a delayed start, the world’s hottest teenagers went toe-to-toe in the race for the final 24 spots in the draw, shredding their way through Round 3.
Wearing a bright red rash guard surf shirt and blue board shorts, Australian ace Owen Wright is on track for back-to-back ASP Pro Junior victories after eliminating fellow Australian Mitch Crews and highly-rated Frenchman Marc Lacomare from the $30,000 tournament.
Wright, a blonde-haired goofy-footer , ripped it up, netting a 7.25 and a 6.50 to finish with a heat-winning total of 13.75 (out of a possible 20), compared to runner-up James Woods’ 12.40.
“I’m stoked to go left for a change,” Wright said. “We had small right-handers for the opening event of the series, so I’m happy to get some punchy lefts. Hopefully there will be a few barrels for the last two days of competition.”
